Donzel Edward Owens, Sr. 84 of State Route 45, Lisbon, OH died at Salem Community Hospital on Thursday, June 28, 2007 following a brief illness.
He was born in Wick, Tyler County, West Virginia on May 22, 1923, a son of the late Oral and Theresa Robinson Owens. Living most of his life in the area, Mr. Owens retired in 1982 from the former Crucible Steel Mill in Midland, PA where he was a diesel mechanic. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Norma J. Campbell Owens, whom he married December 14, 1946; two sons, Donzel E. Owens, Jr. of Lisbon, OH and Jeffrey D. Owens of Salem, OH; a daughter, Gloria Boso of Lisbon, OH; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny R. Owens and a sister, Betty Walker.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul Sturm, officiating.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park, where the Tri State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta, today, June 29, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM
