Willis Emil Fletcher
November 19, 1928 - April 13, 2016
Willis Emil Fletcher, age 87 of Shalersville, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Stow-Glen.
He was born November 19, 1928, in Graysville, Pennsylvania, to parents Winfield and Nora Pearle Fletcher. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, and his two sisters.
Willis is survived by his wife of 63 years Imogene Staggers Fletcher, a son David Fletcher (Beverly) of Ravenna with 2 grandsons Christopher and Tristan Fletcher and 2 step grandsons Justin and Noah Shannon & a daughter Edwina Wilber (Tom) of Illinois, as well as his brother Arthur (Vieleta) Fletcher.
Willis was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War, where he earned a Purple Heart medal. He retired from GM/Terex, and then worked for Sea World in Aurora in the printing department. Willis was a founding member of the Portage Faith United Methodist Church. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and loved to travel.
Burial will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville. A memorial service and celebration of life will follow at 11:30 AM Portage Faith United Methodist Church. Reverend Joyce Hoile and Reverend Tom Wilber are officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to go to Portage Faith UMC, 9922 State Route 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com.
