“Mrs. Ellen Elliot Chess, 66, of 695 North Richhill Street, Waynesburg, died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 1973 in Canonsburg General Hospital after an extended illness.
Born July 6, 1905 in Buffalo Township, Washington County, she was the daughter of James V. and Hannah Smith Elliot, and was married to the late Floyd W. Chess, who died on August 10, 1969.
A resident of Waynesburg for the past several years, Mrs. Chess was a member of the First Baptist Church, Waynesburg, where she was active in both church and Sunday School activities.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Clay (Mabel) Miller of Washington RD 6; and Mrs. Herbert (Margaret) Messenger of Blairsville; and several nieces and nephews.”204
