“Mary E. Chess, 84, widow of Samuel C. Chess, died March 4, 1962, at the home of her son, Floyd Chess, North Richhill Street, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born February 2, 1878, in Richhill Township, a daughter of Josephus and Eliza Jane Hewitt.
In 1900 she married Samuel C. Chess, who died in 1943.
She was a member of the Wind Ridge Christian Church.
Surviving are four sons: Floyd and Thomas A., of Prescott, Ariz.; Joseph I. of Library; and Arthur L., of Wind Ridge, RD 1; one brother, O. N. Hewitt, of Waynesburg, RD 2. Four sisters are deceased.
Burial was in Wind Ridge Cemetery.”210
