Obituary:
“Graysville- Thomas A. Chess, 75, of RD 1 Graysville, died at 6 P.M. Tuesday Oct. 10 at Washington Hospital. Although not in the best of health he was seriously ill for the last three days.
He was born Dec. 30, 1902 in Richhill Twp. He was a member of the Wind Ridge Christian Church and was an elder of the church for many years. He had been a farmer all of his life and also did general construction work until his retirement.
Surviving is his wife Edith Scherich Chess, whom he married April 8, 1925, one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Lois Ellen) Sharps of Churchill Borough; one son Thomas A. Chess, Jr., RD1, Graysville; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother Joseph I. Chess of Pittsburgh; one granddaughter and two brothers Floyd and Arthur are deceased.”206

“Friends of Thomas A. Chess, 75, of Graysville, who died Tuesday will be received at the Mariner and Milliken Funeral Home from 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday where services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday Oct. 13 in charge of Rev. Garvin Hupp. Burial will be in Wind Ridge Cemetery.”206
