“Edith Scherich Chess
Resident of Richhill Township since 1925
Edith Scherich Chess, 92, of Graysville RD 1, died at 3:50 A.M. Tuesday, July 11, 2000, in her home.
She was born May 20, 1908, in Marshall Co., W. Va., a daughter of Eugene Broderick and Cora Mae Johnson Scherich.
Mrs. Chess had been a resident of Richhill Twp. since 1925.
She was a member of Wind Ridge Christian Church and the Loyal Women’s Class of the church.
Mrs. Chess enjoyed quilting as long as her health permitted.
On April 8, 1925, she married Thomas Allen Chess, Sr., who died Oct. 10, 1978.
Surviving are a daughter, Ellen Sharps of Monroeville; a son, Thomas A.Chess Jr. of Graysville, RD 1; four grandchildren, Doroghy Burns, Chester Sharps, Ruth Ann Yanek and Thomas A. Chess III; and nine great grandchildren.
Deceased are a granddaughter who died in infancy; four brothers, Johnson H. Scherich, who died April 26, 2000, and Orange, Virgil and Forrest Scherich; and two sisters, Violet Chess and Margaret Holmes.
Mrs. Chess was the last of her immediate family.”205
