John R. Phillips, 65, Spraggs R.D. 1, died Friday at Greene County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Mar. 27, 1910, Wayne Township, the son of the late William Harrison and Sarah Phillips.
He was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church, Spraggs, and worked for the sanitation department of Rocky River, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Staggers Phillips; two sons, Johnny of Wind Ridge and Jerry of Chillicothe, Ohio; six daughters, Mary Louise Phillips, at home, Mrs. Joan Hearing, Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Marlene Webb, Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Carol Jeffries, Waynesburg R.D. 2, Mrs. Jane Stewart, Mt. Morris and Mrs. Betty Jane Wise, Cameron, W.Va.; two sisters, Dora F. Staggers, Spraggs R.D. 1 and Rebecca Hearen, Spraggs R.D. 1; 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
