Obituary:
“Cora Violet Chess, 73, of Wind Ridge died at 7 P.M. Tuesday, May 29, 1979. She was dead on arrival at Washington Hospital from an apparent coronary occlusion.
She was born Feb. 4, 1906 in Marshall Co., near Cameron, W. Va., the daughter of Eugene and Cora Johnson Scherich.
All her life was spent in the Wind Ridge area. She was a member of the Christian Church and the Loyal Sunday School Class of the Church.
He husband, Arthur Lee Chess died April 14, 1974.
She is survived by three daughters; Mrs. James (Helen) Levander of McKeesport; Mrs. Thomas (Aldene) Carpenter of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Richard (Mary) Rickabaugh of Hershey; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Edwon (Margaret) Holmes of R. D. Cameron, W. Va. and Mrs. Edith Chess of Graysville R. D. 1; three brothers; Johnson Scherich of Cameron, W. Va.; Orange Scherich of Old Concord and Forest Scherich of West Finley.
One grandson and one brother, George Virgil are deceased.

Chess--Friends of Cora Violet chess of wind Ridge who died Tuesday, May 29, 1979, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. today in the Mariner and Milliken Funeral Home, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg where services will be held at 1 P.M. Friday June 1, with the Rev. Garvin Hupp officiating.
Burial will follow in the Wind Ridge Cemetery.”
