Obituary:
“Herbert R. Staggers, 69 of 1010 East High Street, Waynesburg, died at 1:35 P.M., Tuesday, September 6, 1983, in Bristor’s Guest Home, after a four month illness.
He was born December 2, 1913, in Wind Ridge, a son of the late Clarence R. and Winnie Rae Nelson Staggers.
He had spent his entire life in Greene County and graduated in 1932 from Richhill Township High School. He was a former member of the Waynesburg Lions Club.
Mr. Staggers was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and was the deacon emeritus.
For 30 years he had been employed by the Texas Eastern Transmission Corp., retiring in 1978.

Surviving from that marriage are four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Andersen of Reston, Va., Mrs. David (Peggy) Metzger and Sara Staggers, both of Charlottesville, Va., Donna Staggers of Herndon, Va.; two sons, Richard Staggers of Odessa, Texas, Ralph Staggers of Butler; four granddaughters and two grandsons.
He is survived by his second wife, Eileen Riley Staggers; a step daughter, Raleen Riley of Waynesburg; a stepson, John Riley of Waynesburg; a step-granddaughter and a step-grandson.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Fessler of North Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Russell (Betty) Patterson, of Canton, Ohio; two brothers, Roy Staggers of Wind Ridge; and Raymond Staggers of Canton. Several nieces and nephews survive.
Deceased are one son, David, and two brothers, Arthur and Donald.

Friends of Herbert R. Staggers of 1010 East High Street, Waynesburg, who died Tuesday, September 6, 1983, will be received in the Glise E. Mariner and Samuel A. Milliken Funeral Home, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday where services will be held Saturday, September 10, at 10 A.M. The Rev. Richard Visser and the Rev. Henry A. Young will officiate with burial in Wind Ridge Cemetery.”
