“Mary Louise Staggers
Longtime nurse for Brownsville Hospital
Mary Louise Roule Staggers, 69, of Brownsville, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born August 12, 1931, in Marianna, a daughter of John and Mary Yoskey Roule.
Mrs. Staggers was a life member of First United Methodist Church of Brownsville and its United Methodist Women.
She was a 1949 graduate of West Bethlehem High School and graduated from Brownsville School of Nursing in 1952, the school’s final commencement.
In November 1989, Mrs. Staggers retired as a registered nurse from Brownsville General Hospital after 37 years of service.
She was a member of Brownsville General Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, Order of Eastern Star, formerly of Brownsville, and Ladies Auxiliary of South Brownsville Volunteer Fire Company.
Her husband of 40 years, Glenn Lee Staggers, died in 1992.
Surviving are a son, Rodney (Jim) Staggers of Perryopolis; three grandchildren, the Rev. Jim Staggers, Leslie Staggers and Gary Lee Staggers Jr.; two sisters, Jacqueline and Eleanor; five brothers, John, James, Rudy, Tommy and Ronny; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Gary Lee “Butch” Staggers, who died in 1999; a sister, Betty; and a brother, Charles.”
