Hattie's first marriage was not very successful but her second marriage to George Jackson was. George worked in the offices of Wheeling Steel Corporation and they lived in Wintersville, Ohio, a small village on top of the hill above Steubenville, Ohio. When Hattie's sister, Murtle died in 1937, Hattie took her mother, Hulda, to live with her. Hulda died in 1942. George retired in the early 1960's and they sold the property and moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where George died in 1963. Hattie's sister, Essie, moved to Florida to be with her. After Essie died, Hattie moved to Wheeling and stayed in her sister's old house which was Long's Trailer Court. Because of age and ill health she moved to a nursing home where she died in 1979. The Pleasants County Court House has Hattie's birth as April 26, 1893.

“Jackson, Hattie Ellen, 85, of West Hollywood, Fla., died Saturday at the Weirton Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Hollywood, Fla. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Margaret Quinn) Davis of Warwood; a brother, Thomas Rawson of New Martinsville; two step-daughters, Lilley and Marie, both of Wheeling; seven grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends received at the Bodey Funeral Home, 2101 Warwood Ave., 7-9 P.M. Sunday and Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Arrangements are incomplete.”
