John H. Grim, aged 89 years, one of the oldest and best known citizens of southwestern Greene County, died at his home at New Freeport, Friday night March 1, at 9:25 o’clock, following an illness of two weeks of a heart ailment. He was a farmer and stock raiser and spent the greater part of his life in that section of the country.
Mr. Grim was born near LIttleton, W. Va., december 3, 1850. He was a son of Barrett Parey and Jemema Taylor Grim. January 5, 1878, he married Harriet Fonner. They were parents of eight children, seven of whom are living. They are George Grim, of Fullerton, California; Mrs. J. E. Chaney of New Freeport, R. D. 1; Mrs. T. R. Rush, of Waynesburg, R. D. 5; Mrs. A. L. Patterson, of Waynesburg; Mrs. Charles Geho, of New Freeport, R. D. 1; Charles Grim, of Bakerstown, and Walter Grim, of New Freeport, R. D. 1. There also survive, 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was the last of a family of 11 children, and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, March the fourth ninteen hundred and forty at 1:00 o’clock in the home with further services in the Bethany Methodist Church in charge of Rev. Lew F. Johnston. Interment—Bethany Cemetery.
