Obituary:
“John C. Kerr
John C. Kerr, 66, of Waynesburg, R.D. 2, formerly of Bristoria, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 26, 1971. He had not been in the best of health for some time, seriously ill for the past month.
He was born May 7, 1884, in Richhill Township, a son of the late Rufus and Mary Jane Wright Kerr. His wife, the former Clytie Staggers, died February 6, 1940. He spent most of his life in Jackson Township.
He was employed many years by the South Penn Oil and Gas Company in charge of cleaning and production. He had also been employed by the Dunn-Mar Oil and Gas Company. He retired in 1956, after 54 years in the oil and gas fields.
He was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Eileen) McCullough, of Sycamore, R. D. 1; two sons, Kenneth, of Holbrook, R. D. 1 and Keith of Rogersville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Linda Coffield, of Sycamore, R. D. 1 and Richard McCullough, of Sycamore, R. D. 1; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Urbana Headley, of Graysville, R. D. 1 and two brothers, S. L. Kerr, of Carmichaels, R. D. 1 and George B. Kerr, of Waynesburg, R. D. 5.
One daughter, three sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Kerr--Friends of John C. Kerr, of Waynesburg, R. D. 2, formerly of Bristoria, who died Friday, March 26, 1971 are being received after 7 p.m. Saturday, in the Mariner and Milliken Funeral Home, 197 North Maiden St., Waynesburg, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, with Rev. Robert Borland officiating. Burial in Higgins Cemetery, Holbrook, R. D. 1.”
