Edyth Staggers Smith lived in Philadelphia in 1956 at the time of her mother’s death.
1224Obituary, Waynesburg Republican, June 1978:
“Mrs. Edyth S. Smith, 82, of 248 E. Greene St., Waynesburg, died at the Bristor Guest Home, in Waynesburg, at 2:05 p.m., Tuesday May 30, 1978.
She was born August 8, 1895, in Richhill Township, a daughter of Peter and Bertha Courtwright Staggers. Her husband, Wm. P. Smith, died Feb. 15, 1959.
Mrs. Smith lived in Waynesburg most of her life, and had been employed as a nurse at the old Waynesburg Hospital.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church, at Waynesburg; a member and past Worthy Matron of Emerald Chapter 135, Order of the Eastern Star, Waynesburg, and was a member and past Worthy High Priestess of Bethesda Shrine, Washington.
Surviving are two brothers; Elmer Staggers, of W. Finley, RD 2., and Everett Staggers, of Waynesburg, RD 5; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Tilton, Cameron RD 1, W. Va., and Mrs. Evelyn Stewart, Wbg, RD 6, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters; Mrs. Cora Fonner, Mrs. Grace Courtwright, and Mrs. Elizabeth Behm, and two brothers, LeMoyne and Harry Staggers.”
