Obituary from the Waynesburg Republican, Dec. 1956:
“Mrs. Peter Staggers
Mrs. Bertha Staggers, 85 years, widow of Peter Staggers, died Saturday evening, December 15, 1956, in the home of her son, Elmer, of Wind Ridge. She had been in ill health for some time. Mrs. Staggers was a daughter of James and Jane Morris Courtwright, and was born at Sugar Grove, June 25, 1871. Her husband died in 1940. Mrs. Staggers had been a member of Sugar Grove Union Church.
Surviving are four sons and five daughters; LeMoyne and Elmer Staggers, of Wind Ridge; Harry Staggers, of Graysville; Everett Staggers, of Cameron, R. D. 2.; Mrs. Wm. P. Smith, of Philadelphia; Mrs. Elizabeth Behm, of Holbrook; and Mrs. Arett Courtwright, of Graysville. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Ora Robinson of Wheeling, W. Va., and Mrs. Martha Grim, of Wind Ridge.
One daughter, Mrs. Cora Fonner, two brothers and four sisters are deceased. Funeral services were held Monday in the Garrison Funeral Home, by Rev. James Reynolds. Interment was in the Wind Ridge cemetery.”
