“Raymond L. Dukate
Longtime member of First Baptist Church
Raymond L. Dukate, 93, of Sourt Porter Street, Waynesburg, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2003.
He was born April 16, 1909, in New Freeport, a son of John David and Caroline Gump Dukate.
Mr. Dukate was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesburg for more thatn 55 years, and served on several boards and committees.
He also was a member of Hallmark Sunday school class, where he had perfect attendance for more than 55 years.
Mr. Dukate was a charter member of New Freeport Volunteer Fire Company and a retired 50-year member of Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Company. He was a life member of Waynesburg Lions CLub, having received the Melvin Jones Fellow award from the Lions.
He also received an award from the state of Pennsylvania for having voted in every election for 50 years.
For more than 50 years he worked for Fox Ford Mercury in Waynesburg as a mechanic. He also owned and operated Dukate Trucking Co. for more than 30 years.
On June 4, 1931, he married Gertrude Staggers, who died October 13, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters, Dolores Headlee of Gainesville, Va., and Sherry Crandall of Waynesburg; three sons, George Dukate of Waynesburg, Larry Dukate of Dayton, Ohio, and Loren H. “Red” Dukate of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dukate was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are a granddaughter, Suzanne Dukate; three sisters, Cecile Keener, Thelma Dukate and Grace Whyte; and a brother, Paul Dukate.”1515
