“Kermit LeMoyne Staggers
W&J grad worked for Kresge, Kmart stores
Kermit LeMoyne Staggers, 84, of Cape Coral, Fla., died Saturday, April 19, 2008.
Mr. Staggers was born February 22, 1924, in Wind Ridge, a son of LeMoyne and Anna Staggers.
He met the love of his life, Christine Scherich, in grade school. They married in 1945 and spent 60 wonderful years together until her death in 2006.
Mr. Staggers served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. After his discharge, he attended Washington & Jefferson College and graduated with a business degree. He joined Kresge Corp. and worked as a store manager for 13 different Kresges and Kmarts.
He retired to Cape Coral after 38 years of service. He was a member of Cape Coral Kiwanis for many years and was a deacon in First Baptist Church of Cape Coral. He loved politics, Fox News and watching BMX races and especially loved his family.
Surviving are three sons, Dr. Kermit (June) Staggers of Sioux Falls, S.D., David (Melodee) Staggers of Indianapolis, Ind., and Bruce (Kim) Staggers of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; a daughter, Marcia (Robert) Fain of Cape Coral; and two sisters, Juanita Staggers of Rockville, Md., and Marjorie Bissett of Waynesburg. He will be greatly missed by his 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, in Coral Ridge Funeral Home, Cape Coral. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the funeral home.”
