“Jack S. Gillogly, 89, of Holbrook, went to be with his Lord at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in Golden LivingCenter, Waynesburg, following a brief illness.
He was born April 1, 1926, in Holbrook, a son of the late Andrew and Mary Scott Gillogly.
Mr. Gillogly resided in Holbrook for most of his life.
He attended the former Fallen Timber School in Holbrook and was a lifetime member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Mr. Gillogly enlisted in the
U.S. Navy as a construction worker. He was stationed in the Philippines from 1940 to 1943.
Prior to his retirement in 1988, he was employed for 20 years as a truck driver for the former Wilson Sawmill in Graysville.
Mr. Gillogly enjoyed gardening and hunting.
In December 1946, he married Faith Louise Stockdale, who died July 3, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Porter of Holbrook; three grandchildren, Andy Gillogly and Mike and C.J. Porter; eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Devin and Bryant Gillogly, Nicole Garber, Ashlynn Gillogly, Tyler and Tucker Porter and Cadyn Porter; and a brother, Bill Gillogly of Aliquippa.
Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are three sons, Robert L., Kim S. and Jack S. Gillogly; a grandson, Brian Lee Gillogly; a granddaughter, Becky Garber; and three sisters, Ginevra Huffman, Jeanette Staggers and Hope Gump.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, with Pastor Gary Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery.
