“Eleanor Richards Grim died at the Willows Nursing Home on July 4, 2007. She formerly resided in Elizabeth. She was born May 17, 1923, in Sonoma, Wirt County, a daughter of the late Clayford and Anna Tanner Richards. She was a member of the Two Ripple Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the Rev. Gladson Grim last December; two sisters, Isabelle Richards and Justine Dugan Duckworth; four brothers, Philip Wade, Paul, Orva and Keith Richards; two grandsons, Scott Grim and Steven Mark Hale, II; and one step grandson, Vincent K. Bower.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Irene (Ira) Lynch, of Creston, William Gayle (Diana) Grim of Spring City, Tenn., Roger Dale Grim of Vero Beach, Fla., and Terry W. (Connie) Grim of Elizabeth and Pamela S. (Tony) Terretti of Vinton, Va.; one brother, Larry (Jodie) Richards of Vero Beach, Fla.; and one step grandson, Jerry Bower, of Elizabeth. She is survived by seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Eleanor married her beloved husband, Gladson, on Aug. 9, 1940, and lived in the old home place below Creston for many years. She loved flowers and always raised a big garden every year. She loved to cook meals and have all the children's friends in to eat.
She used to walk and take all of her children to church and did her best to teach them about the Lord. She loved to read and study her Bible daily. She has taught Sunday School at many churches throughout the years. She also had a beautiful singing voice and was song leader in many churches throughout the years.
Services were Saturday morning, July 7, at the Busch-Kimes Fimeral Home, Elizabeth, with the Rev. Dwight Brohard offficiating. Burial followed at the Hill Grove Cemetery II.
A celebration of Eleanor's life was held Tuesday evening, July 10, at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth, where Jim Lynch, her grandson, officiated.”
