“Blanche Staggers Breese, aged 93 years, of Maidsville, W. Va., a former resident of Greene COunty, died after a long illness at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, May 18, 1980, in the Moran Manor Nursing Home, Morgantown, W. Va.
Mrs. Breese was a daughter of Thomas H. and Charlotte Pethel Smith and was born May 7, 1887, in Jackson Township. She resided most her life in western Greene County, moving to Maidsville 10 years ago.
She was a member of the Bristoria-Unity Presbyterian Church at Graysville.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Hewitt of Maidsville; two sons, Robert L. Staggers of Lakeland, Fla. and John O. Staggers of Downington; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six step-daughters, Ivy Crouse, Lizzie Crouse, Fannie Conklin, Pearl Conkey, Mary Johnston and Ruth Bartolovich; a stepson, James Breese, and several stepgrandchildren.
Her first husband, Harry I. Staggers, died in 1944. Her second husband, Frank Breese, died in 1957.
A daughter, Margaret Keener, three brothers and two sisters are deceased.”179
