Obituary:
“Cleo Staggers
Graduate of Claysville High School
Orpha Cleo Carroll Staggers, 84, of West Finley R.D.2 (Richhill Township), died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 1997, at the Washington Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born April 21, 1913, in West Finley, a daughter of Harry and Orpha Brewer Allum.
Mrs. Staggers was a graduate of Claysville High School and lived in Greene County her entire life.
She was a member of the Enon Baptist Church.
Her first husband, James Dennis Carroll, whom she married March 2, 1939, is deceased.
Her second husband, Milo L. Staggers, whom she married March 8, 1947, died May 11, 1989.
Surviving are four sons, James H. “Bud” Carroll, at home, Harry R. Carroll of West Finley, Ben Staggers of Washington and Mike Staggers, at home; four daughters, Sarah Clutter of West Finley, Joanne Hamilton of Graysville, Mary Lou Amos of Sycamore R.D.1 and Jean Davis of Moundsville, W. Va.; three stepdaughters, Mary Kiger of Prosperity, Carol Dye of Tuscalusa, Ala., and Brenda Finnegan of Wind Ridge; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her first and second husbands, are one stepson, Harold Dale Staggers and one half brother, Austin Allum.”
