Obituary from Richard Smith:
“Smith, Homer B. 77 of Fly, died Thursday at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling. He was a retired riverboat pilot. He was preceded in death by one son John in 1977. Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Smith of Wheeling; Delores Bosold of Newcomerstown, Ohio, a son Gay Smith of New Orleans, a sister, Marjorie Kirkland of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends received at the Eckels Funeral Home, Sistersville, after 2 P.M. Saturday where services will be held 1 P.M. Sunday. Interment in New Matamoras Cemetery, New Matamoras, Ohio.”
