“Arthur D. Staggers, 82, of Mount Morris Star Route, Waynesburg (formerly of Bristoria), died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1981, at 3:45 A.M. following a brief illness.
He was born May 24, 1898, in Jackson Township, the son of the late James and Amanda McVay Staggers.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Jennie Whipkey, on March 17, 1933.
His second wife, Agnes V. Riggs, died Dec. 27, 1979.
He spent most of his life in Jackson Township.
He worked in the oil and gas fields, and also was a farmer and painter.
He was a member of the Long Run Church of God.
He is surved by a son, Russell Staggers of RD 2, Waynesburg; five daughters, Mrs. John (Eleanor) Murdock of RD 5, Waynesburg; Mrs. D. W. (Marie) Benson of San Bernardino, Cal; Mrs. James H. (Leona) Smith of RD 2, Prosperity, Mrs. Arthur (Artie) Mankey of Mount Morris Star Route and Ferne E. Haught of Morgantown, W. Va.
He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.
A son, Allen, five brothers and four sisters, preceded him in death.

Friends of Arthur D. Staggers, 82, of Mount Morris Star Route, Waynesburg (formerly of Bristoria), who died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1981, will be received at the Robert I. Lantz Funeral Home at Rogersville, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1 P.M. Thursday, with the Rev. William Ryan officiating. Interment will be in Staggers Family Cemetery, in Jackson Township.”458
